Description
MOTS-c Overview
Mitochondrial-Derived Research Peptide
MOTS-c is a naturally occurring mitochondrial-derived peptide encoded within the mitochondrial 12S rRNA region. In laboratory research environments MOTS-c is studied for its role in mitochondrial-nuclear signaling, its behavior in metabolic enzyme assays, and its interaction with folate-cycle intermediates. As one of the first characterized mitochondrial-derived peptides it is a frequent subject in research on mitochondrial genome expression. Researchers continue to investigate MOTS-c across controlled laboratory studies of mitochondrial biology and peptide signaling.
